Obituary of Richard K Blackwell
Richard (Dick) Blackwell, 87, of Endicott passed away peacefully on May 6, 2021 after a short illness.
He is predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Sandra Blackwell, his Father and Mother, Harold and Mildred Blackwell, his Brother, Donald Blackwell, and his Mother-in-law, Wilma Strickland, all of Endicott.
He is survived by his three children Mark (Carol) Blackwell, Kelly (David) Blazavich, and Randy Blackwell.
The pride of his life were his five grandchildren, who he loved dearly, Amy (Rick) Petrucelli, Kimberly (Matt) Schofield, Michael Blackwell (Katie Miller), Shannon (Matt) Ferraro and Derek Blazavich. He also was Poppa Dick to six great grandchildren, Aiden, Sophia, and Savanna Petrucelli, and Marco, Natalie, and Elena Schofield, his little pup Katie who was his constant companion and friend, as well as several nieces and cousins.
Dick served in the US Army and worked for 35 years at IBM. He was a proud member of the IBM Quarter Century Club and spent many years playing on the IBM Men's softball team. He also spent years as a volunteer fire fighter for the West Corners Fire Department. Dick was also an avid car lover and spent many hours restoring his classic car.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His family meant the world to him. He never missed a sporting event or function for any of his children or grandchildren and was always their biggest supporter and fan, traveling near and far to cheer them on.
We will miss you forever but knowing that you are once again reunited with the love of your life brings us all peace and joy.
The family would like to thank the medical staff at Wilson Hospital for the wonderful care he received.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 12 at Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home, 300 East Main Street, Endicott from 4-6 PM with services immediately following.
