Obituary of Margaret Barker

Margaret Barker Born in Worthing, England on December 20, 1943 to The Rev. Harold and Violet Fife, she and her family emigrated to Toronto, Ontario in 1960. She completed her secondary education and graduated from Toronto University in 1966. After moving to Detroit, MI with her parents, she returned to England to attend teachers college and taught for a year in London, England. She came back to the US in the summer of 1968 and rejoined her family in Leverett, MA. She taught school for the next two years. During that time she met and married her husband, Daniel Barker. They soon started a family and she became a mother and homemaker for the rest of her days. She was a devout Christian woman whose personal spiritual life shone forth to all who knew her. She knew and loved the Lord and imparted that knowledge and love to her four children. She felt blessed by her children and loved them beyond measure. She loved the beauty of our world, and passed that appreciation on as well, through gardening and her delight in birds. Her love of teaching and music were expressed in her Sunday School teaching and church choirs and most recently as a member of Downtown Singers in Binghamton. She was taken from us suddenly, but her eternal destination is sure. She is survived by her husband, Daniel; four children, Elizabeth, James, Stephen, and David; her brother David; six grandchildren, Emma, Audrey, Betty Grace, David Chandler, Mary Louise, and Maggie; and 3 step grandchildren, Michael, Paul, and Naithin. The funeral service will be held at 12 noon on October 16, 2021 at St. Andrew's Anglican Church, 400 West Wendell St., Endicott, NY. Visiting time will be from 11:30 A.M. prior to the service. The interment will take place at St. Ann's by the Sea on Block Island, RI some time during Thanksgiving week later this fall.
