Obituary of Arnold K Rauscher

Arnold "Arn", 91, passed away peacefully in his sleep at Good Shepherd Fairview Home in Binghamton, New York on Thursday, October 21, 2021. Arnold was born to Raymond and Anita Rauscher in Ilion, New York. He was also predeceased by his beloved wife of 54 years, Dorothy and his siblings Norman, Raymond, and Joan Anita. Surviving him are his children; Joanne, of Apalachin, NY, Arnold Jr. (Mary Beth), of Panoma Park, FL, Mary Margaret (Paul Tarbell), of Endicott, NY, James (Laura) of Henniker, NH and Mark (April) of Binghamton, NY, his nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. After attending Rochester Institute of Technology and serving in the United States Navy, Arn went on to work for IBM Endicott and retired after a 33 year career. He and Dorothy shared a love of antiques, but it wasn't until his retirement, that Arn was able to do what he loved most, searching for treasure in other people's "stuff" while working for Mapes Auctioneers & Appraisers. He was also known by many for his skills in chair caning and extensive knowledge and collection of cast iron cookware. Another one of Arn's passions was to spend time and work on his family camp, Wa-No-Ka, on Kayuta Lake in Remsen, NY. Wa-No-Ka has been passed down through many generations of the Kapfer side of the family. While not an " Adirondack Great Camp", to Arn and his family, it is a "Great" camp and will continue to create wonderful memories for generations to come.
