Obituary of Constance A. Olds
Newark Valley –
Constance (Connie) Olds, 81, passed peacefully on June 4th, 2022. She was born in Queens, NY on August 31, 1940, to Francis and Elizabeth Carso. At eighteen, she moved to the area to attend Harper College, where she met her future husband, Larry. Together, their adventure started in a little apartment on Front Street in Vestal, followed by a move to Newark Valley. There, they raised their two children and ran an 8-lane bowling center for twenty years, creating many lifelong friends and memories. As a state employee until her retirement at age 72, her coworkers became some of her dearest friends.
Connie's greatest joy was her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. You could find her at sporting events, concerts, recitals, birthday parties, graduations, playgrounds, and tea with the Queen. She had a huge heart for cats and dogs (most of them strays). When she wasn't playing with her furry friends, she was in the front row seat for musicals, operas, and local choral works. With a selfless heart, she could find the positive in every situation and was always there to help family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-one years, Lawrence Olds, children Dirk Olds (Brenda Dawe) and Gwyn Hust, grandchildren Drew (Jessica) Hust, Tyler (Sarah) Hust, Casey (Rachel) Hust, Andrew Olds, and Mackenzie Dawe, five great grandchildren, and her sister Jacqueline Strickland. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Elizabeth Church Manor where she spent the last few years. Covid restrictions made it tough for everyone, but we know and appreciate the men and women behind the windows that cared for her and became her family.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30AM on Friday, June 24th at Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home in Endicott, NY. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 10:30AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org.
