Obituary of Richard "Dick" Harvey

Dick Harvey, 74 died unexpectedly on August 22, 2022. Dick was predeceased by his parents Edward and Marian Harvey. He is survived by his loving wife, Karen, Daughters and Sons in law: Jody and Steve Flagg, Casey and Gregg Hitchcock, Danielle and Chris Short. Sons and Daughters/Son in law: Richard Jr and Scott Bowers, Christopher and Jeannine Harvey. Grandchildren: Cameron, Chloe and Cali Harvey; Hannah, Ethan, Emily and Olivia Flagg, Brydan and Jayden Hitchcock. Sisters and Brother in Law: Helen and James Bisgrove, Amy and Brian Boyer. Brother and Sister in Law: William and Heidi Harvey. Mother and Father in Law Joyce and Ken McGowan. Several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews…and many good friends. Dick worked as a machinist for forty years. He began his career at K. Hein Machine in Vestal, NY, later moving to Universal Instruments Corporation, Binghamton, NY where he retired from in 2008. Dick was an avid bowler, racking up over forty perfect games, as well as many 298, 299, over twenty 800 Series and '11 strikes in a row awards'. Dick was inducted into the Southern Tier bowling hall of fame in 2015. He enjoyed spending weekends boating, camping and fishing on Oneida Lake, cycling with his wife, traveling and watching his grandchildren play sports. We will be gathering to share some of our favorite memories, stories, to laugh, to cry and remember this wonderful person on Saturday September 3rd, 1-4 PM at the Vestal Elks Club, 2071 Vestal Parkway W, Vestal, NY.
