Obituary of Joseph A. De Rosa, Jr.

Joseph A. De Rosa Jr., 55, of Endicott, went to be with his Lord unexpectedly on Thursday, September 8th 2022 at Wilson Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his loving wife, Diana De Rosa of 31 years; two daughters Maria (Bradley Bennett) De Rosa, Atlanta, G.A. and Tressa (Jonathan) Belwood, Norfolk, V.A. and his two fur babies, Ella and Cooper; two sisters, Christina (Ron) Secor, Binghamton, N.Y., Adina (Tony) Castelli, Houston, T.X.; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. Joe had a lifesaving kidney transplant that was donated by his selfless sister, Adina, 15 years ago. This allowed Joe to have an opportunity to pursue a higher educational aspiration. Joe was able to earn multiple degrees including a Masters' in Public Administration in 2018, Masters' in Social Work in 2014 and Bachelors' in Science of Psychology in 2011. Joe was a vocational career counselor at Star Group, Inc. since September 2014. He loved giving guidance, providing support and helping those in need. He also used those same qualities as a used car manager at Jack Sherman Toyota for many years. Joe was a passionate sports fan. He enjoyed watching the New York Mets on the couch with his Mets blanket and if he couldn't watch, he would stream the games live from his phone. When baseball was not in season, he branched out and became a New York Rangers fan. Joe was a lifelong true Star Trek fan (Trekkie) who went to Star Trek conventions, collected Star Trek memorabilia and who at one point, had a Star Trek themed room. On the day of his passing, we feel Scotty beamed him up since it was the 56th anniversary of airing the first Star Trek episode. Joe's ideal family vacation would always consist of being within walking distance of the beaches in Florida. His favorite thing to do would be a night walk on the beach. Joe and Diana's goals were to move to Florida and live in Palm Coast. Joe would enjoy going to the movies with his movie buddy/daughter, Tressa. Joe also enjoyed talking about Yellowstone/1883 and On Patrol: Live while they were airing with Maria. Joe would bring light and humor to ANY room. He would do/say anything to make you laugh even if it meant embarrassing you. You could always count on him to brighten the mood. Joe was a reliable, loving and dependable husband, father, brother and coworker.
