Obituary of Vesta M. Scarano

Vesta Marie Scarano, 96, of Hilltop Methodist Home, Johnson City went quietly into the arms of God on Thursday October 20,2022 She was predeceased by her first husband and high school sweetheart Richard D. Welty and her second husband and partner of 60 years Michael Scarano. She was also predeceased by her special daughter-in-law Shirley Folmar and lifelong friend and "sister" Shirley VanDerVort and great grandson Harvey Walker. She is survived by son Richard D. Welty Jr. and wife Kathy Layer of Vestal. Son Mark S. Scarano and partner Elisa Previtti of Endicott. Grandson Seth (Pablo) Welty and husband Richard Sanabria of New York City. Granddaughter Monica Welty and partner Karrie Sides of Portland, Oregon and great granddaughters Vesta and Olivia. Granddaughter Dana Calandra and husband Vito and great granddaughters Giuilana and Regina. Grandson Nicholas Scarano and wife Natalise and great granddaughters Brittany and Michaela. She worked for many years as a sales person for Westfall's Dress Shop in Vestal before opening a dry-cleaning outlet for Star Cleaners in Binghamton which she ran for 25 years. She was truly loved by all and spread love everywhere she went. She had the "gift of gab" that put people at ease and she made friends easily. The last eight years she has been under the loving care of the sta? of Hilltop Methodist Home assisted living. Everyone there who helped her became her extended family.
