Obituary of Michael R Coleman

Michael Richard Coleman, 79, of Endwell, NY passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on January 4, 2023. He was predeceased by his parents Richard and Anne Coleman, his devoted wife of 50 years, Jane Coleman, son David Coleman, an infant daughter, granddaughter Victoria Johnson, daughter-in-law Kara Mollis, sister-in-law Barbara Haley, brothers-in-law John Barno, Bernard Eck and Thomas Closser. He is survived by his daughters Michele (Devon) Morrison and Stephanie (Greg) Johnson; 12 grandchildren; Jordan (Chris) Barnes, Calvin, Dylan, and Tyler McClammy, Troy and Camille Morrison, Abigail, Mattingly and Phoebe Johnson, Lindsey McPhelimy, Sofia and Luca Coleman; a great-grandson, Travis Barnes; brother, Patrick (Jeanette) Coleman; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Barno, Marilyn Eck and Elaine Closser; brother-in-law Jack Haley; and several nieces and nephews. Mike was raised in Endicott, NY and graduated from Union-Endicott High School in 1961 and later Broome Technical Community College. Mike served his country in the U.S. Air Force in Guam during the Vietnam War. Upon his return to Endicott, he began his career with Endicott Trust Bank leaving when he was offered a position with the United States Postal Service. Mike worked as a letter carrier in the Endicott and Endwell post offices for thirty years retiring in 2006. He dedicated his time in retirement to the American Legion Post 82 serving as commander for several years. He loved working Bingo on Tuesday nights, watching The Young and the Restless, and cheering on the Yankees and the Giants. Mike was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 82 in Endicott with over 50 years of membership. He was an avid bowler, coming in second place, with his brother Pat, in the Press tournament. In 2017 he was recognized by the Broome County Legislature as a Veteran of Distinction, and he was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at 10 A. M. at St. Ambrose Church, 203 Washington Ave., Endicott. Entombment will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endwell. The family will receive friends at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, LLC, 300 E. Main St., Endicott, Monday, January 9th from 4 – 7 P. M. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mike's memory to the American Legion Post 82, 1305 Riverview Drive, Endicott, NY 13760.
