Obituary of Richard M Vosefski
Richard Michael Vosefski of Apalachin, NY passed away Wednesday, March 1 at Binghamton General Hospital just days before his 86th birthday. Richard was the 8th of nine children born to the late Andrew J. and Anna L. (Konoski) Vosefski of Carbondale, PA. He was a graduate of Mayfield High School, Mayfield, PA and attended Penn State University, Scranton Campus. Upon graduation, Richard served in the U.S. Army. He was also a skilled machinist / tool and die maker and worked for Pratt & Whitney in Meriden, CT and then for the General Electric Corporation in Westover, NY where he retired after 25 years of employment. Richard loved hunting, fishing, spending time with family and friends, and riding around his many acres of woodland in his Polaris jeep. His greatest pride came from being papa to his three granddaughters.
He is survived by his ex-wife Barbara (Smiegal) Vosefski; two daughters Michele (James) Georgoudes of Endwell, NY; Beverly (Kenneth) Berman of Whitehall, MI; three brothers Albert, Joseph, and Walter Vosefski; a sister Delores Kelly; three granddaughters Katherine and Alexandra Georgoudes, and Abigail Berman; numerous nieces and nephews; two pet chickens and his 17 year old cat, Buddy.
He was preceded in death by his wife Charlotte (Champluvier) Vosefski; three brothers John, Francis, and Andrew Vosefski; a sister Louise Moran; and several in-laws.
A celebration of life will be held at the Louis C. Parise Funeral Home on Farview Street, Carbondale, PA on Monday, April 3. Friends and family may pay respects from 10 – 11am followed by a final blessing. Interment after cremation will be at the Wyalusing Cemetery, Wyalusing, PA at a future date.
Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the Animal Care Council (animalcarecouncil.org) of Endicott, NY where he adopted his beloved cat.
