Obituary of Thomas J. Kotasek
Thomas J. Kotasek, 86, of Endicott, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 12, 2023. He was born in Maine, NY to Matthew and Katrina Kotasek. He was a 1955 graduate of UEHS. Tom served in the US Navy from 1956-1960 and was stationed in Charleston, SC. There he met his future wife, the former Anna Freeman, who predeceased him in 2015. He was also predeceased by 4 brothers; John, Peter, Louis and Larry and 1 sister, Sophie.
Tom is survived by his son, Mark (Jane) Kotasek, of Endicott, brother, Karl, of Maine, NY and sisters; Fran Vlasak, Vestal, and Marie (Roy) Nersesian, NJ and several nieces and nephews. Tom was a retired Machinist and Designer for IBM and Stow/Bomag. He was a proud member of the Czechoslovak Moravian Club, where he served in several offices, including being the PR Manager for the Club's Folk Dance Group, taking them through the Northeast, Canada, and Czech Republic to perform.
A Funeral Mass will be offered Friday, April 21, 2023 at 10 a.m. at St. Ambrose Church, Endicott. Burial will follow in Slovak Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 300 East Main St. Endicott, on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. The Moravian Club will have a service on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Thomas can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to the American Lung Association.
