Obituary of Josephine Y Hoppes

Josephine Y. Hoppes, 89, took her last earthly breath and her first breath in eternity on June 29th, 2023, being reunited with our father, John (Jack) Hoppes Jr. Our mom was a kind, loving, caring, unselfish woman, always putting the needs of others above her own. She loved talking with people. No one was a stranger, but a friend she had not yet met. Her smile was infectious, her laugh contagious. Her greatest joy was her family, friends, and sharing about the Jesus she knew so intimately. Her greatest desire was for people to come to faith in Christ as their personal savior and know Him as she did. Her favorite thing to say was, "I want to live in the word until the word is living in me". Her life was an embodiment of that phrase. Mom found the treasure and shared it, not keeping it to herself. Her spiritual and practical devotion to God permeated every area and relationship of her life. Her life is an endless ripple of the lives she touched; family, friends, strangers on the street. As Christians, we take comfort in knowing we are not as those who have no hope. One day, we will be reunited in heaven. Until that day comes, she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She taught us all how to live, and die, with dignity and great faith.
