Obituary of Roseann Makinajian

Roseann Makinajian, age 91, passed away August 9th, 2023. She was the beloved mother of Joseph Makinajian III (Baileyville, ME), Alyssa Makinajian Barreiro (Binghamton, NY), and Gregg Makinajian (West Babylon, NY); adored grandmother of Francesca, Joseph IV, and Malcolm; cherished sister of Delores "Laurie" Tenuto (Casselberry, FL); and dear Mother-in-Law and Aunt. She was predeceased by sisters Lillian Orlando of Huntington, NY, Madeline Spampinato of Northport, NY and Lette Burt of Cobleskill, NY, and in 1958 by an infant son, Gregory N. Makinajian. Born in Huntington, NY, Roseann Maltempo was named Miss Crab Meadow Beach, graduated at the top of her high school class, and after marrying and raising her children on Long Island, embarked upon a highly successful executive career, including many years at Henlopen Manufacturing in Melville, where she managed relationships with major cosmetic companies internationally. She retired to Binghamton, NY in 1995, residing at 5 Riverside Towers from which she embarked on travels to Europe, the Caribbean, Mexico, and regular visits to Florida beaches. She became close with many "Towers" residents, served a term on the board, used the exercise room daily for many years, stocked her grandchildren's favorite snacks, and taught them to play poker. Her family is thankful for all who helped support Roseann's living at home with dignity in her final years and is grateful for the care she received at Wilson Regional Medical Center. A funeral mass will be held at St. Patrick's Church in Binghamton on Wednesday August 16 at 11 am.
