Obituary of Terry Jayne Jones
Apalachin – Terry Jones, age 76, better known as TJ lost her battle with chronic kidney disease, dementia and heart disease Sept 22, 2023 at the Riverview Manor Home in Owego, NY. She was born the daughter of Charles Parker Robb and Doris Jayne Booth on 12/16/1946 in Binghamton, NY. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Jerry Jones, a brother, Robin (Judy) Robb of Binghamton and a nephew Robert (Raisa) Robb of Mount Kisco, NY. She also has an especially close friend, Renee Luba, of South Dakota. Sept 24, 2023 would have marked 43 years of marriage.
While working at the GAF and Ozalid plants in the 60s and 70s she participated in the sports programs offered by the various associations. One memory often mentioned was of TJ playing shortstop and her best friend Dottie Carr playing first base. Win or loose, the after game celebration took place at Terry's Tavern on Clinton Street. In addition to softball, she played basketball, bowling and golf.
Aside from her work related endeavors, she always seemed to be trying something new. She dabbled in pet sitting both at home and at the owner's home, acrylic nails and dog grooming, she also owned Terry's Craft's which specialized in dried flowers arrangements. TJ has been a member of the Vestal Elks Lodge for several years and loved going to the lodge and chatting with all her friends. At one time she was named "Elk of the Month."
This time of year was her favorite. She loved to shop and decorate for the seasons. There was non stop excitement from October to December with shopping and parties.
Her ashes will be buried in the Unadilla Forks Cemetery during a private ceremony.
