Obituary of Harold E Prince

Harold Edward (Punky) Prince, 83, of Vestal passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, after a painful struggle with health issues which finally broke him down. Being one of 12 children was always a challenge, but it made him stronger and more determined to make life as good as possible for his family. His main hobby was work. He was one of the hardest working men you could ever meet. Never taking time to relax and enjoy the benefits of the home he and Linda built on what he called a little piece of paradise. He could figure out how to fix or rebuild anything to make it work again. They built a cottage on Owasco Lake and he would reward himself by fishing and making his own lures then catching his limit and a big fish fry after. He was a proud member of Laborers Local 7, Binghamton retiring after almost 40 years. He was the best husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. His quick wit making him so much fun to be around. He really liked to talk and was never at a loss for words or a story. He is predeceased by his father and mother Bev and Reva Prince, 2 brothers; Jim and Steve Cannon, 4 sisters; Mary Northrup, Veta Antalek, Mable Bronson, Viola Stevens, his first wife Mary Evans Prince who passed away in 1967 his beloved son Jim in 2021. He is survived by his " angel" devoted wife Linda Hackett Prince, they would have celebrated their 51st anniversary in December. His grandson Zach Prince who was the love of his life, he was so proud of the man he turned out to be. His 2 brothers; Jack and Jerry Prince, 3 sisters; Sharon Fox, Ruth Prince, Gayle Williamson. Many nieces, nephews and friends. His special friends Dave Rafferty, Jack Briggs, John Fedor who held a special place in his heart. A graveside ceremony will be held at the convenience of the family at Riverside Cemetery, Endicott where he will be laid to rest next to his son and first wife. If you wish, contributions in Ed's memory to a charity of your choice, CHOW or St. Jude's children's hospital would be appreciated.
