Obituary of John L. Jones

John L. Jones, age 81, died unexpectedly at home on February 22, 2024. He is predeceased by his son Michael and his parents Dorothy & Paul Jones. He is survived by Donna, his wife of fifty-three years, son Jeffrey and daughter-in-law Lynn of Syracuse, granddaughters Sabrina and Alexis and great-granddaughter Adalynn, his sister Mary (Ted) Shatara and several nieces and nephews. John graduated from Binghamton University with a bachelor's degree and graduated from the FBI National Academy – 101st session - in 1975. After graduating from the academy, John joined the academy association and rose through the ranks, ultimately becoming president in 1989. He started with the Vestal Police Department in 1966 and retired in 1994 at the rank of Lieutenant. After retiring, he managed the Rubber Ducky car wash on the Vestal Parkway for eighteen years. He was a lifelong member of the Vestal Elks and a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church for fifty-three years. Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday, February 27th from 2-5 PM at Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 765 Main Street, Vestal. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, February 28th at 11:00am at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 801 Main Street.
