Obituary: Robert W. Pelton (January 27, 1957 - April 8, 2024)
Robert W. Pelton, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on April 8, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 67 years old.
Born on January 27, 1957, Robert, known affectionately as Bob, brought warmth, kindness, and a remarkable spirit to all who knew him. Throughout his life, he touched the hearts of many with his generosity, resilience, and unwavering love for God and his family.
Bob is survived by his devoted wife, Vickie Pelton, who stood by his side throughout his illness, offering love and support. He is also survived by his loving children, daughter Jane (Dan) Polhamus, son Nicholas (Maryann) Pelton, and stepdaughter Aimee Crawford. Bob was deeply cherished by his grandchildren, Natalie, Daniel, Rachel, Luke, and Abel, who brought immense joy into his life.
In addition to his immediate family, Robert is survived by his brothers David (Patricia) Pelton and Steven (Kimberly) Pelton, and sisters Sharon (Dan) Lerche, and Susan (Stan) Cason. Together, they shared countless cherished memories and provided each other with enduring support and love.
Bob is predeceased by his father Richard Pelton, mother Carol VanKuren, and grandson Domanick Hayward.
Bob's life was defined by his dedication to his family, his strength in the face of adversity, and his ability to find joy in the simplest moments. He will be remembered for his kindness, his sense of humor, and the impact he had on the lives of those around him.
A proud veteran, Bob served in the United States Army before embarking on a career as an electrician. He was a dedicated member of Local IBEW 325, where he worked until his retirement in 2018.
In his leisure time, Bob found solace in the great outdoors, indulging in his passions for deer hunting, fishing, and watching car racing and nature shows. However, his greatest joy came from spending time with his loving family, creating cherished memories that will be treasured for generations to come.
A celebration of Bob's life will be held on Friday, April 12th at Grace Point Church, 3701 Vestal Road, Vestal, NY. Family will receive friends starting at 10:00 am, with funeral services starting at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow services at Vestal Hills Cemetery, immediately followed with a reception at 2:00 pm at Grace Point Church.
Though Bob may no longer be with us in person, his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered with love and affection. May he rest in peace in the kingdom of Heaven, surrounded by the love of those who cherished him most.
