Obituary of Virgil Jason Chastine

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dad, Virgil. Virgil Jason Chastine passed away on April 10, 2024 at 4:08pm. Virgil was 45 years old and currently lived in Binghamton, NY, although he was born and raised in New York City. As our dad grew up, he found himself attracting older friendships because he displayed a level of maturity and intellect that very few people ever encountered in such a young man. They also encountered a level of confidence, excitement, and adventure that far outweighed his size. Despite this, he was often the first to step in and get involved in situations. Many of these friendships would go on to last the rest of his life and eventually impact the lives of his two sons, Jason and Rick. Virgil was very proud and super protective of his boys. He made sure that despite the powerful bonds he had created with his friends, they had to prove themselves before even being able to meet the boys. Those who were allowed to meet them were constantly updated on how they were doing, what they were doing, and on the little things that made him proud and happy. This was very important to him as his father was not present in his life, and he wanted to make sure that he provided a better life for his boys. This ideology brought him to pursue a degree in English at Binghamton University, and this is what eventually brought him to the Binghamton area. Virgil and Jeanette (the mother of his two sons) decided to raise the boys in Binghamton despite both of their love for the city and the family they left there. This is where he would start his career at Security Mutual. As he developed skills in customer service, he was constantly met with praise and promotion, yet continued to spend extra time taking classes to gain certifications and improve his skills. His ability to be professional, communicate, and develop relationships with others was unmatched, which led to him being well-acquainted with many people in his workplace. Although he left the city to pursue a career, he always made sure to let everyone know how important family was to him. Despite not driving, our dad always found a way to visit family on holidays, events, or sometimes just to play some video games with his younger brother Brian. All he ever wanted was to spend as much time with his loved ones as possible, and he made sure it happened. His youngest son, Rick, recently gave him a granddaughter named Stella. Despite his overwhelming love for us, Stella managed to be the center of his world for the short time they had together. He wanted to not only provide for her but also give her everything the world had to offer. Our dad is survived by his sons, Jason and Rick; his mother, Grace; his siblings, Yesen, Brian, and Brandon; the mother of his children, Jeanette; his granddaughter, Stella; his niece Jadriane; his nephews Devyn and Brian, and an abundance of friends that will never forget him. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday April 20th, at 7 p.m. at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 300 E. Main St. Endicott, NY. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 4 p.m. until the time of the service.
