Obituary of Sandra C. Wiley

Sandra Wiley of Vestal, 87, went peacefully to her final resting place beside the Lord on April 12, 2024. She is predeceased by her parents Robert and Isabel (Ross) Church and her brothers Billy and Robert Church. She is survived by John, her loving husband of 59 years, her daughter Linda Myers (Vernon) and grandson Evan, her son Brian Wiley, and her granddaughter Daisy. She is also survived by her brothers Bruce (Betty) Church, and Gary Church, sister-in-law Donna Church, sister-in-law Suzannah (Wiley) Carney, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Sandra graduated from Binghamton North High School and St. Peter's Hospital College of Nursing in Albany, NY. She worked as a nurse for various doctors and Wilson Hospital Nursery. She was involved with the Triple Cities Hiking Club where she met John. They enjoyed hiking, skiing, and building their 'forever' home in Vestal where they raised their two children. Sandra was a Girl Scout Troop leader, involved in the PTA, and attended all of Linda's soccer games and track meets. She also assisted with Brian's cub scouts as a den mother and youth sports. She was great at making cookies and fudge for all to enjoy. Sandra and John made sure to get their kids out to travel on several cross-country trips visiting and camping at many national parks. She and her husband John also traveled internationally to Scotland, Egypt, Chile, and Easter Island. Rarely would she be upset or angry. She was a kind, giving woman who always smiled. She was a wonderful wife and mother, devoted to her husband and raising their two children. She adored her two grandchildren Evan and Daisy. She was the grandma who always took the children, met the bus with Evan in elementary school, and hosted sleepovers. She will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 22 at Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home, 765 Main Street, Vestal, NY. Visitation is from 4-5 p.m., followed by a service at 5.
