Before I retired from IBM I had the chance to manage the VM Component Test department, where Tim was an excellent technical lead. For a time we worked with a team of Russian contractors, and traveled to Moscow to meet the group there. I remember that our luggage was lost for several days, and then we discovered that most of the team, supposedly fluent in English, spoke only Russian. Tim took all this in stride, staying focused on the work at hand. He had a fine, dry sense of humor, walked to work every day, liked to pick strawberries, and was respected by everyone, myself included. My sincere sympathies go out to the family and friends of this good man. —Donna Rahner
