Obituary of Valerie Kane
Valerie Mary (Stento) Kane
Age: 77
2/14/47-8/15/24
Our Beloved Mom, MA, and WA was called to her heavenly home on August 15th, 2024.
Valerie is survived by her cherished children, Vanessa & Mark Kelly and Frank (Paul) & Lori Kane; adored grandchildren, Rachael Kelly and Jordan Kane; her brother, Donald Stento; father of her children, Frank (Skip) Kane; as well as beloved extended family, friends, and a grand poodle Chester. She was predeceased by her mother, Colleen Stento; her father, O.D. Stento; and her brother, Anthony Stento.
Valerie made an unfading impact on everyone she encountered. Her presence in this world was powerful and inspirational, marked by her extraordinary ability to listen. She was always eager to hear your stories and find ways to offer support. Valerie lived authentically, her genuine self-radiating beauty and strength wherever she went.
Meeting her was guaranteed to be a memorable experience.
She had a special gift for making holidays unforgettable and enjoyed life to the fullest—whether it was bowling, golfing, playing bridge, or "bebopping around," as she put it. Her passion for interior design and, most importantly, spending time with loved ones brought her immense joy. We can almost hear her now in Heaven saying, "Oh hon, it's the niftiest thing up here," likely busy redecorating.
Valerie will be deeply missed. Her vibrant spirit could no longer be contained by her earthly body. She chose her moment to depart, leaving us just over three days later. Though her body may have given out, her spirit will forever live on, guiding and inspiring us as she watches over us.
The family would like to thank Mercy House staff for their exceptional care and compassion. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, Endicott, NY.
In accordance with Valerie's wishes, the service will be private. Until we meet again. God
