Obituary of Peter Honnick

Peter Honnick Apalachin Peter Honnick, 88, of Apalachin, NY passed away on May 2010. He is predeceased by his wife of 64 years Irene (Phillips) Honnick on Oct. 2, 2006, granddaughter Kimberly McNeal, Parents George and Barbara Honnick, 7 brothers and 2 sisters. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Linda and John Grandeo , Sayre, Pa., daughter Darleen Honnick, Apalachin, NY and son David Honnick, Owego, NY, 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and very special friend Shirley Harvey Owego, NY. Also by special friend Kay Russo, Vestal, NY who called themselves the Last of the Mohicans as they are the last of the group of life long friends. Also several nieces and nephews and friends. He was a veteran of WWII, a member of American Legion Post 401, Owego, NY, VFW Post 1371, Owego, NY and Friendship Lodge No. 0153, Owego, NY. He was as avid hunter and fisherman and after retiring he and his wife moved to Constantia, NY and lived on Oneida so he could fish every day he could summer or winter. He also loved to garden and kept everyone supplied with fresh vegetables. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Honor Guard of the VFW Post 1371 Main St., Owego, NY 13827. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 11AM from the Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home Inc., 300 East Main St., Endicott. The Rev. mary Jean Simonin Pastor of the Apalachin United Methodist church will officiate. Burial will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endwell. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, Tuesday from 10AM until service time at 11.
