John Thomas Wright of Endicott
John Thomas Wright, 86, of Endicott, died Friday evening, October 17, 2008, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Binghamton. He was predeceased by his sister, Lulu Wright; his father, William E. Wright; mother and stepfather, Madge and Dwight Eldredge; son-in-law, Gerry Sherwood. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Evelyn Wright; his children, Georgie (Bob) Bergeron, Onyx, Calif., Francene (Steve) Crandall, Shell Knob, Mo., Carol Lee Meyers, Newfield, N.Y., Barb (Aaron) Ball, Endicott, John Wright Jr., Naples, Fla., and Pat Sherwood, Binghamton; eleven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, three nieces and one nephew. John was a graduate of Union-Endicott High School and retired from General Electric, Johnson City, with almost 35 years of service. He was a veteran of WWII and served with the U.S. Navy from April 20, 1943 to December 11, 1945. Throughout his life he enjoyed his family, fishing, the outdoors, neighborhood walks, dinners at the Broadway Diner, and the many friends he made there and his neighbors at Villa Circle. He will always be remembered for his great sense of humor.
According to his wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. He was a very generous man and donated to many charities. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make contributions to the charity of their choice.
