Obituary of Dorothy Jean Luce

Dorothy Jean (West) Luce of Vestal Dorothy J. Luce of Vestal, NY, born March 12 1925 passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Wilson Memorial Hospital. She joined her husband John S. "Jack" Luce who preceded her in death in 1971. She was also predeceased by her parents Addie West Hutchings and Marshall West, and her brother Walter "Bud" West. Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Rebecca J. Luce, Vestal, NY and Stacy E. Gana and John Waldron, Little Meadows, PA. Also surviving are her grandson Jeremiah Gana; granddaughter Jessica Gana and Christopher Thurston; granddaughter Amy Gana and Greg Williams; grandson Zachary Gana and Jessica Waugh; brother and sister-in-law Norman and Helen West; sister-in-law Doris West; step sister Phyllis Gorgol; several nieces, nephews and cousins in the West and Luce families and her dear friend Louise Vanderkulk. The loves of her life were her family, her "grand" cats, gardening, Jeopardy, crosswords, reading and playing bridge. During the years with her husband, she traveled and lived all over the country. Mom was an inspiration to all of us with her inner strength and kindness. She will be forever loved. Private Memorial Services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made to the Animal Care Council, 131 Washington Ave. Endicott, NY 13760 or the Vestal United Methodist Church.
