Gladys J. Clemens of Vestal, NY
Gladys J. Clemens born May 3, 1917 in Kingston, PA went to be with the Lord on Friday August 6, 2010 at her home, surrounded by her loving children. She was predeceased by her husband, Fred Clemens, of Endicott, NY and her older sister, Ann Brodie, of Kingston, PA. She is survived by her sister Dorothy Berry, of Kingston PA, her three daughters, Beverly Stevens Luter of Raleigh, NC; Mary Lou Stevens of West Palm Beach, FL; Judy and John Addison of Boca Raton, FL; and her son Walter and Nancy Stevens of Vestal, NY; 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and two very special friends, Mary Gallagher of Vestal, NY and Barbara Wright of Endicott, NY who were like daughters to her. She is also survived by her three cats. Gladys and her family moved into the tri-cities area in 1950 and opened several restaurants, including, the Skylark Diner, as well as Walter's Diner in Westover which was owned and operated by Gladys. Gladys was a member of the South Vestal Baptist Church,13850 She enjoyed Bible studies and Gospel Music. She enjoyed traveling, visiting Europe and South America and was an avid animal lover.
Visiting hours are 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 10, 2010 with the funeral to follow at Coleman Daniels Funeral Home in Endicott, NY. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial contributions to: Lourdes Hospice, 4102 Old Vestal Road, Vestal , NY 13850. or South Vestal Baptist Church, Rt. 26 South Box 2718 Vestal, NY in Gladys Clemens' memory.
