Obituary of Tirsa Koper

Tirsa Koper of Vestal With family, friends, and caretakers near by, Tirsa ( Aaron) Koper passed away at the age of 61 in the comfort of her home and with a view of her garden. Tirsa was predeceased by her father, Dr. William Aaron, and her mother, Emerita Aaron. She is survived by her husband, Joel Koper and daughter, Macail Koper, as well as her sister, Rosita Delia and brother, Albert Aaron. In addition, she was survived by her niece Bryna Aaron and nephews William and Antonio Aaron. During her long fierce battle with cancer, Tirsa's dog, Sophie, became a devoted bed side companion. Friends, too numerous to mention here, would stop in to visit Tirsa at her "paradise" and leave her home with a better understanding of courage, determination, life and death. A graduate of Maine-Endwell High School, Tirsa obtained a Bachelor's degree from Iowa Wesleyan College and a Master's in Social Work from the University of Kentucky. After working in her father's medical practice, she began a career devoted to helping children which included serving as a child protective worker with the Broome County Department of Social Services. Tirsa worked at Family and Children's Society and then took a position with the City of Binghamton School District where she retired from her position as a school guidance counselor. In retirement, photography became Tirsa's passion and her works of art were appreciated by all who had an opportunity to see them. Somehow, Tirsa was able to capture the beauty of every subject through the lens of her camera. Tirsa's own beauty never faded and could be witnessed through the sparkle in her eyes, the smile on her face and her acts of friendship and compassion. A Memorial Service will be held for Tirsa on Saturday, September 18th, at 4:00 p.m. at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home in Endicott. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 3:00 p.m. until service time at 4:00 p.m.
