Obituary of Elwood C Thorp

Elwood C. "Woody" Thorp Elwood C. (Woody) Thorp, 89, of Vestal went to be with the Lord Sunday, October 17, 2010 at home surrounded by his daughters. He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Elsie Marie; and a Brother, Harry. He is survived by his two daughters, Janet Rafferty, Apalachin, Debra and Jerry Hares, Auburn; his grandchildren, Brian Rafferty and Tori, Kristen Rafferty, Lisa Baribeau and Jason Kyle Hares and Stacey; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Emily, Lena and Caleb; sister, Yulia Selser, Binghamton; sister-in-laws, Lola Thorp, Texas, Hedy Wood, Binghamton, June Kohl, MN; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was a Veteran of WWII serving in the US Army 27th Division Chapter 11. He was a member of American legion Post #89 Vestal, also the VFW. A Loyal employee of IBM Endicott with 31yrs of service, and a member of its quarter century club, and also the Johnson City Senior Citizens. Funeral and Interment services will be held Friday at 11:30 AM from the Tower of Memories Chapel at Vestal Hills Mem Park. The Rev. David C. Seaver will officiate. The family will receive friends at the Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home Inc., 300 East Main St, Endicott Thursday from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to the Johnson City Senior Center 30 Brocton Ave Johnson City, NY 13790 or to American legion Post #89, 118 Jenson Rd, Vestal, NY 13850.
