Obituary of Douglas F. Oakey

Douglas F. Oakey | Visit Guest Book Douglas F. Oakey 89 of Endicott passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at the Riverview Manor Health Care Center in Owego, NY. He was predeceased by his parents Thomas Frederick and Harriett Minnie (Saunders) Oakey and a brother Donald Oakey. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Betty Lou (Hadden) Oakey a son and daughter in law John D. and Patricia J. (Peacock) Oakey of Pittsburgh, his grandchildren Jennifer L. and Steven Monaco of Pittsburgh and Tara J. and James Kist of Perry, Ohio and his great grandchildren, Jessica L. Monaco of Pittsburgh and Briana T. Kist of Perry, Ohio. Douglas was born on August 13, 1921 in Hednesford, England and was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School. He was married to Betty Lou Hadden in 1942. Following many years in business in Dunmore, PA he moved to Endicott in 1966 where he began his career with IBM. He retired from IBM in 1986. He was a 32nd degree Mason and was a member and Past Master of the King Solomon Lodge NO. 584 in Dunmore, PA. He loved to build models and was an avid railroader for over 60 years. He was a devoted and loving Husband, Father and Grandfather. Memorial Services for Douglas will be held on Monday, November 1, 2010 at 11:00 am from the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 300 E. Main St. Endicott, NY with the Rev. Jose Valencia officiating. The family will receive their friends on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in his memory to the Riverview Manor Health Care Center Activities Fund for Residences, 510 Fifth Avenue, Owego, NY 13827.
