Obituary of Robert J. Searing

Robert Searing Robert Searing, 78, of Vestal, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his wife, Ethel (the love of his life); his parents, Albert and Anna Searing; his brothers, Albert and William Searing; and his sister-in-law, Dorothy Searing. He is survived by his daughters, Nancy, his caretaker for many years, (Andy) Nazak, Beth (Paul) Rogers; and his son, Robert (Kathleen) Searing. He was very proud of his family, especially his 3 children. He is survived by his grandchildren, Andrew & Nicole Nazak, Amanda (David) Wilcher, Joseph Winter, Robert (Katherina) Searing, and Thomas, Matthew and Conor Searing; and 2 great-grandchildren, Brody Wilcher and Andrei Robert Searing. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Evelyn Searing, Betty (Walt) Wheaton, and Clare (John) Hudak; and many nieces and nephews. Robert graduated from West Scranton Central High School in 1950 and joined the Air Force as an aircraft mechanic in 1951. He worked at IBM for 30 years before retiring in 1987. Bob was an avid bowler, golfer and true blue NY Giants fan. To all things he brought his distinctive sense of humor. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2011, at 11:30 a.m. at Vestal Hills Memorial Park in the Tower of Memories building.
