Obituary of Clayton H. Day

Clayton H. Day of Vestal Center Clayton H. Day, 89, of Vestal Center, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, November 22, 2008 at Wilson Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Florence (Peggy), Vestal; his children, five daughters and four sons-in-law, Donna and Reid Swindler, Greenville, Ohio, Marsha and Bob Lesko, Raleigh, NC, Linda and Steve Cameron, Seffner, Fla., Lori and Larry Roma, Vestal, Dorothy Briggs, Binghamton; three sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Dottie Dykeman, Sarasota, Fla., Richard and Sachiko Day, Charlotte, NC, Donald and Sylvia Day, Fulton, NY; 23 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Clayton was a Veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a retired IBM employee with 42 years of service and was a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club. He was also a member of the Vestal Center United Methodist Church. A Memorial Service for Clayton will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 26 at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 300 E. Main St., Endicott. The Rev. Roger L. Frederick, pastor of the Vestal Center United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be at the family's convenience. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Wednesday, from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. The family requests in lieu of flowers, contributions in Clayton's name be made to Lourdes Hospice, 4102 Old Vestal Rd., Vestal, N.Y. 13850 or to the Memorial Fund of the Vestal Center United Methodist Church, 478 West Hill Rd., Vestal, N.Y. 13850.
