Walter F. Slocum Walter F. Slocum of Vestal Walter F. Slocum, of Vestal, born September 5, 1936 to Sattie and Scott Slocum, Thompson, Pa., joined his Savior in paradise on December 2, 2008 at his home. He will be greeted by his beloved wife, Betty; his sisters, Edna, Marion and Ruth and his brothers, Scott and Wilbur; also his two great-granddaughters, Abby Slocum and Abby Lesh. He will be desperately missed by his children, Lorie, Julie and Tim, Terry and Lou, Carol, Karen and Mark, and his only son, Scott and Christine. Also surviving are his brothers, Gene, Harry and George; also his sister, Ella Mae. There are also many grand and great-grandchildren surviving. Walt found new love and purpose with his fiancee, Elsie. Walt, with his wife Betty, owned and operated Cafe Coffee Service for 30 years. He was a member of the Endwell Christian Union Church and served as First Elder. He also helped with many church projects. In his retirement, he enjoyed the warmth of Florida and made many wonderful friends at the Oasis Park. Dad loved Cadillacs, classic cars and Chevy vans. His red '76 Camaro was his pride and joy. His faithful companions, Poppy and Sam never left his side. He loved western suits and cowboy boots, Craftsman tools and shades of blue, a good cup of Cafe Coffee and coconut cream pie, christmas lights and Gaithers music. He also could make a mean speidie. Dad was blessed with wonderful friends - you know who you are and a loving church family. Walt's family will receive friends, Friday, December 5 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, Inc., 765 Main St., Vestal and on Saturday, from 11 until service time at Noon at the church. We will celebrate Walt's life on Saturday at 12 Noon at the Endwell Christian Union Church, corner of Hooper Rd. and Smith Dr., Endwell. Remember Walt by contributions to the Memorial Fund at the Endwell Christian Union Church.
