Obituary of Barry A Hashem
Barry Hashem of Endicott Barry Hashem, 77, of Endicott, passed away Saturday Morning, December 6, 2008, at the Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center. He was predeceased by his mother, Jan Cortese; father, H. John Hashem; stepfather, Victor Holmberg; sisters, Diane Hashem and Anne Holmberg. He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Isabell, Endicott; five daughters and sons-in-law, Jan and Venley McGregor Jr., Maine, N.Y., Kay and Lee Bohlman, Shortsville, N.Y., Judith and Daniel Shea, Natick, Mass., Elizabeth and Shaun Barrett, Pittsford, N.Y., Theresa and David Gage, Geneva, N.Y.; son and daughter-in-law, LTC John and Deborah Hashem, Washington D.C.; seven grandchildren; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Rose and Herb Brown, Sanford, Fla.; several nieces and nephews. Barry was employed in Manufacturing Management positions in Philadelphia and the Triple Cities area. At the time of his retirement, he was self-employed as a contract purchasing agent and was a charter member of the Broome County Purchasing Management Assoc. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving in the Korean Conflict with the 15th Radio Squadron and assisted in selecting the sight for East Communications Center in Osan, Korea. He was a member of American Legion Post #1700, West Endicott and served as a volunteer on the Arizona border with the Minute Men Civil Defense Corps. He was a member of St. Ambrose Church, Endicott and was a volunteer for the Bereavement Guild. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. from the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, Inc., 300 E. Main St., Endicott and 10:00 a.m. at St. Ambrose Church, where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Tuesday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Dr. Garabed A. Fattal Community Free Clinic, c/o the Clinical Campus, SUNY Health Science Center, 425 Robinson St., Binghamton, N.Y. 13901; or the UHS Foundation, c/o Ideal Senior Living Center, 10-42 Mitchell Ave., Binghamton, N.Y. 13903.
