Obituary of Paul Bednar

Paul Bednar Endicott: Paul Bednar, 80, of Endicott, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2011, at Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center. Predeceased by his wife, Kathryn; infant son, Kevin; son, Ron; and brothers, Alex and Milan. He is survived by his children, Dennis, Rich and wife Jan, Tom, Diann, Anthony and wife Cheryl; two grandchildren, Matt and Julie; brother, John; and sister, Amelia DeBellis; several nieces and nephews. Paul was born in Mahoning Valley, PA. He enlisted in the Army after high school graduation. He was stationed in Butzbach, Germany at a vehicle repair depot. Following his time in the army, he returned home to marry his sweetheart in June 1953. He graduated from Penn State University in 1957 and was hired by IBM Federal Systems in Owego, where he was employed for 32 years, retiring in 1989. His hobbies included fishing and documenting his family tree. He spoke fluent Slovak and in recent years he traveled to Czechoslovakia. There he met with the paternal side of his family and also visited churches and cemeteries during his genealogy research. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. from the Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home Inc., 300 East Main St., Endicott. Deacon Lorena Henry of Our Saviour Lutheran Church, Endwell, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endwell. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Monday from 10 a.m. until service time at 11.
