Obituary of Barbara J. Hogan
Barbara J. Hogan of Apalachin Barbara J. Hogan, of Apalachin, N.Y., slipped away into the arms of her Lord and Savior December 14, 2008. She was predeceased by her husband, John Hardenstine; parents, Ted and Erma Chaffee; and a sister, Bonnie Groats. She is survived by her devoted husband, Edward Hogan; daughters, Patricia (Bryce) Jackson and Marty (Jim) Brazeal; one son, Ted (Sandra) Hardenstine; stepchildren, Mary Ann (Dale) Sacharov, Pat (Steve) McRory, Peg (Ray) Rood, and Ed (Carol) Hogan. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren who were the love of her life. Barb had many careers in her life, but her most fulfilling career was that of a teacher's aide at both Apalachin Elementary School and Appleseed Pre-School. The kids loved her and she loved the kids. Her love of music was perpetuated by her husband, Ed, who she would accompany to Vestal Nursing Home on a regular basis to listen to him play the piano. She and Ed were also regular diners at the Skylark Diner, where they were tended to like part of the family. She was a member of Apalachin United Methodist Church, and was a former Sunday School teacher. Funeral Services will be held at the Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home, Inc., State Rt. 434, Apalachin, N.Y. on Thursday, December 18, 2008, at 5 p.m. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 3 p.m. until the time of service at 5 p.m. Reverend Mary Jean Simonin will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Apalachin Fire Department, PO Box 572, Penna Ave., Apalachin, N.Y. 13732.
