Obituary of John A. Jones

Jones, John Arthur Apalachin: John Arthur Jones, 84, of Apalachin, NY, went to be the Lord on Monday, August 6, 2012. He died at home surrounded by his family. He will be remembered as a loving and proud husband, father, grandfather, brother and brother-in-law. John was born on July 21, 1928 in Wilkes-Barre, PA. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Margaret; sons, John and wife ViRene of Woodstock, GA, Daniel and wife Lori Ann of Salt Point, NY, and Mark and wife Beth of Syracuse, NY; grandchildren, John and wife Cara, Chris and wife April, Devin, Derek and Kelly; great-grandchildren, Drake and Kadence. He is also survived by two sisters, Lois and husband Russell, and Ida Mae Jones. He is predeceased by a brother, Fred Jones. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Joan and John Altman, Linda and Joe Stadulis, Mary Jane and Robert Kopp; and brother-in-law, Hayden and Zee Phillips. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. John graduated from Wyoming High School in 1947 and Penn State Technical School in 1953. He served in the US Navy from 1948 to 1952. John retired from General Electric after 35 years. John was a faithful member of Memorial Park Baptist Church for 50 years. He coached youth football and was involved with little league baseball for many years. Funeral Services for John will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at The Memorial Park Baptist Church, 1013 Front St., Vestal, NY with the Rev. Marlene Steenberg officiating. Burial with full Military Honors will follow in Vestal Park Cemetery. The family will receive their friends on Wednesday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 765 Main St., Vestal, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Memorial Park Baptist Church, 1013 Front Street, Vestal, NY 13850.
