Obituary of Anthony Lavelle

Anthony (Willie) William Lavelle of Endicott Anthony Lavelle, 61, of Endicott, went to be with the Lord after a long, courageous battle with cancer, September 8, 2008, surrounded by his family. He was predeceased by his father and stepmother, Anthony and Tanya Lavelle; his mother and stepfather, Maria and Almond Annis. He is survived by his devoted wife, Jeanne; daughters, Alicia (Shawn) Beach, Vestal, Tina (Chris) Connell, Vestal; sons, Ernest Cornish, Florida, Scott Shea, Colorado; two treasured grandchildren, Nathaniel and Abigail Connell, who he loved spending time with and were a joy to his life; brother, Paul (AnnMarie) Lavelle, Johnson City; sisters, Jean Medina, Endwell, Kathleen (Kenneth) Tomko, Binghamton, Darla Farella, Florida; brothers-in-law, Harold (Debbie) Davis, Glen Aubrey, Robert (Shirley) Root, Lisle; sister-in-law, Ruth Davis, Syracuse; an uncle, Willie, Pa.; also several nieces and nephews. Anthony was a veteran of 12 years, serving with the U.S. Army for two tours of duty in Vietnam and stationed in Oklahoma. He stayed in Oklahoma to work in the oil fields and later returned to the Southern Tier, where he worked at Southern Tier Insulation in Endwell until being disabled in 1996. He had a love for antique cars, motorcycles, and was a Corvette enthusiast. He loved going to car shows with his special friend, Andy. He loved boating, NASCAR, and spending time with friends and family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be deeply missed as he was deeply loved. The family wishes to thank all the doctors and professional staff at Wilson Memorial Hospital for the wonderful care they gave Tony during his final days. We would especially like to thank Dr. Susarla and Dr. Joseph Readling for all their care over Anthony's many years of his illness. A funeral service will be held 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 300 E. Main St., Endicott. The Rev. Michael Kleban, Pastor of St. Mary's Orthodox Catholic Church, Endicott, will officiate. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Anthony to Lourdes Hospice, 4102 Old Vestal Rd., Vestal, N.Y. 13850; the American Cancer Society, 31 Adams Ave., Endicott, N.Y. 13760; or to St. Mary's Orthodox Catholic Church Tower Fund, 1907 Jenkins Ave., Endicott, N.Y. 13760.
