Obituary of Vernon W. Hockenberry
Vernon W. Hockenberry Vernon W. Hockenberry, 80 of Vestal, went to be with the Lord and entered into eternal rest, Tuesday, December 11, 2012 in Lady Lake, FL. He was born 1932 in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of Theodore and Bernice Hockenberry. He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Marilyn L. Hockenberry. Vernon is survived by his son, James O. Hockenberry, Vanhornesville, NY, and a daughter, Melanie A. Collis and son-in-law, Richard; granddaughters, Jennifer and Lyndsie, Tully, NY. Vernon was a member of St. Andrew's Church, Endicott and a former elder of the Crown and Covenant Presbyterian Church. He was a veteran of the Korean War. Vernon had many interests but his favorite was playing trombone in various community and concert bands. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club of IBM. He enjoyed draft horses and farming. He was a loving father and devoted Grandfather. He was also a foster father for 23 years.
The family will receive friends Monday, 10:00 to noon with a funeral service immediately following at Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home, 300 E. Main St., Endicott. Interment will be at Vestal Park Cemetery, Vestal. Expressions of sympathy can be made to St. Andrew's Church, 400 W.
