Obituary of Fay Olivene Brady
Fay Olivene Brady Fay Olivene Brady ended her amazing and benevolent life journey on January 18, 2013. Her final days and moments were spent in her home surrounded by her family and friends, whose lives she had blessed with selfless love and compassion. Fay came to this world on March 13, 1932 in Kingston, Jamaica born to Lottie Cleopatra Laidley and William Ten Chung Loy. The 2nd of nine children, Fay's life course was determined early. Armed with the ideals of altruism and education, Fay set out for a life of service. Attending the top schools in Jamaica, Fay aspired for higher education and a noble profession, whereby she received her nursing diploma from the University College of West Indies. From there, Fay longed for additional training in Canada. She finally settled in the United States to embark on an incredible nursing career. Fay married her high school sweetheart Rupert C. Brady, MD on August 8, 1964 in Brooklyn, NY. Fay's nursing career started at the well-respected King's County Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. Fay accompanied her husband to Washington, D.C. where she continued her nurse's training and received her Registered Nursing certification in March of 1965. Fay's final relocation was to Vestal, NY in 1970. It is here in this wonderful upstate community, where she commenced on an incomparable nursing career spanning over 40 years. The majority of her service was in the highly competitive and demanding Intensive Care Unit at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton, NY. It is there that she touched countless lives with her undeniably gentle strength and empathy. Fay also worked for over 20 years as a visiting nurse for Professional Home Care in Vestal, NY. Even with a fulfilling career, her relentless pursuit of higher education continued until she received her Bachelor of Science in Applied Science at Binghamton University in 1995. Fay furthered her philanthropic endeavors through participation in PEO, an organization dedicated to the advancement of education for women. Additionally, she regularly participated in the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life. Although Fay demonstrated an unrivaled dedication to her nursing career, it is the devotion to her family which she will most be remembered and revered for. With great self-sacrifice and unconditional love, Fay nurtured her 3 sons into men bestowed with her lofty ideals. Fay was diagnosed with lung cancer in June of 2011. She fought bravely with unparalleled courage and dignity. Fay is predeceased by her parents, Lottie and William, as well as by her two brothers Larry and Melmouth. She is survived by her sisters Orinthia Nesbeth, Veda Gunter, Jean Mason and brothers Oswald Chung, Earl Chung and Ewan Chung; three sons and wives/significant others Vincent L. Brady and Beth Stewart, Rupert C. Brady, Jr. and Cariann Brady, Robert L. Brady, MD and Jasmine Brady; seven grandchildren Leah, Adam, Julia, Philip, Elijah, Jianni and Rilee Fayth. There are also numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces and friends who will carry Fay's wonderful spirit on. Arrangements for the viewing are set for Wednesday January 23, 2013 from 1PM - 3PM and 6PM - 8PM with Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home, located at 765 Main St, Vestal, NY. Funeral Services will take place on Thursday January 24, 2013 at 12:30 PM at Calvary Baptist Tabernacle, located at 729 Main St, Vestal, NY.
