Obituary of Mark R Stastny

Mark R. Stastny Johnson City: Mark R. Stastny, 46, of Johnson City, was received into the loving arms of Jesus on June 18, 2013 following a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was at home, surrounded with the love of his family when he passed. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Vincent and Agnes Stastny and George and Marion Scott; aunt and uncles, Helen and Joseph Stastny; uncle, Robert Scott; and nephew, Matthew Stastny. He is survived by his parents, Sandra and Emil Stastny; brother and sister-in-law, Christopher and Renee Stastny; niece and nephew, Mia and Michael Stastny; beloved girlfriend, Cathy Cunningham; aunts and uncles, Mary and Harry Carlson, Judith and Rudolph Stastny, and Louise Scott; and many cousins and friends. Mark's family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the Zunic families for their love and support during his illness. Mark was a graduate of Maine-Endwell Class of 1985 and SUNY Morrisville. He was co-founder of Woodland Tree Services and most recently worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Town of Union Highway Department. Mark was a faithful parishioner of Most Holy Rosary Church. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing, working on the farm raising beef cattle, and spending time with family and friends. A memorial mass will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. from Most Holy Rosary Church in Maine, NY. Burial will be in Maine Cemetery at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home Inc., 300 E. Main St., Endicott, Thursday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Mount St. Francis Hermitage, 120 Edson Rd., Endicott, NY 13760.
