Obituary of Richard H Stevens

Richard "Richie" H. Stevens 64 Richie passed away on Wednesday, May 22nd at his home in Vestal, NY surrounded by his loving family. He is predeceased by his parents, Robert H. Stevens and Ida A. Stevens (Ancog), and his brother Robert "Bobby" Stevens. He is survived by his loving Wife, Andrea S. Stevens; Daughters Shannon P. White (Cole) of Fort Worth, Kiana R. Stevens; Sons Gary W. Gates (Taryn), Nicholas R. Gates, "R.J." Richard J. Stevens; Grandchildren Caroline G. Freeman, "Brennon" Micah B. Freeman, Rylee C. White, Reese C. White of Fort Worth; Several Siblings (In-Laws) In NY, HI, NJ, and VA, as well as many Nieces, Nephews, Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. Richie served honorably for four years in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He is retired from the State of New York in the Division for Youth/Office of Children and Family Services, as well as the Greater Binghamton Health Center. In his retirement, Richie and his family opened up a restaurant in Vestal, named Richie's Pizzeria and Grill, where he is well known by many in the area. Until his last day, Richie remained a fighter, suffering through Glioblastoma, an aggressive terminal cancer, which eventually took his life. He was a caring, funny, loving man who cherished all he came into contact with, his family most of all. He had a deep passion for music, singing and playing his guitar, and for his family's many dogs. Richie made a lasting impact on the community while running Richie's. He would never forget a customer's name and would make sure he greeted them all warmly with his infectious smile. He was taken far too soon and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Funeral Services will be held at Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, located at 765 Main St. in Vestal on Saturday, May 25th between 11AM and 1PM for the viewing, followed immediately by the service and celebration of his life.
